How It Works

We told you the concept was simple. All you need is a collector, a pump and a tank. This is how they come together to make a system which will generate hot water for your home.

A solar collector, or solar panel, is placed somewhere in the sunlight – normally on your roof. There, it converts the sunlight it receives into heat. This heat is generated through the absorption of the sun’s rays by a dark colour-coated absorber, which is connected to a piping system. There is a heat transfer fluid in the piping system which absorbs the heat. The fluid is then pumped to the hot water tank, where the heat is transferred to the water by a heat exchanger.
